It is difficult to imagine working at heights without a stable scaffold. It is necessary, for example, for facades or insulation of buildings. When choosing them, one should pay special attention to the construction and the type of materials used in its manufacture. It is precisely these factors that have a significant impact on the safety of use. Let's see which scaffolding will be the best and compare the different models available on the market.
Scaffolding and scaffolding types
Modular scaffolding
They can be found mainly on larger construction sites, mainly in industrial facilities. They are usually used when the building is equipped with a large number of different types of installations. Modular scaffolding is a so-called free-standing scaffolding. They consist of several modules at 50 cm intervals.
Stand scaffolding
This type of scaffolding is based on special stands or posts, which are placed horizontally and vertically. They are used mainly inside buildings. They can be irreplaceable when painting walls in high rooms. Their big advantage is that they are able to carry a lot of weight. For this reason, they are also used to insulate buildings.
Column scaffolding
They are also called Warsaw scaffolding. They are relatively simple to construct: the structure consists of vertical pipes connected to smaller components. Column scaffolding is used mainly at low heights, especially in the construction of single-family houses.
Frame scaffolding
They have a low height (usually scaffolding up to a maximum of 2.5 metres is available). This type of scaffolding consists of spatial supports and a platform made of thick planks. They are most commonly used in electrical works.
Scaffolding material
It is not only the construction that matters and influences the safety and functionality of the scaffolding. Equally important is the material they are made of. We have at our disposal wooden, aluminum and steel scaffolding. The first type can be found much less often than in the past, because the wood is very heavy, which makes the scaffolding made of it not too mobile, which affects their lower functionality. However, aluminium scaffolding is the lightest, but it is usually used inside buildings because it is not highly resistant. Steel scaffolding is the most stable, so it is used when working at heights. They are slightly heavier than aluminium scaffolding, but compensate for this by being easy and quick to assemble.
